Welcome to Art
Art and Design at St Georges School is currently undergoing exciting new changes. Students are able to experience multicultural projects exploring a variety of skills and techniques. These will help enhance and develop their creativity and allow pupils to engage and reflect upon the world around them. Pupils will explore traditional and contempary artists and movements allowing for critical thinking and analysis of their own thoughts and feelings. Thus allowing inpendendent leaning and the development of life skills that can enhance all subjects.
We have 2 full time Art Teachers at St Georges School both employed for September 2010. We have 2 large teaching rooms with a kiln and good ICT facilities. Pupils have access to the studios throughout the academic year experiencing a friendly and safe environment in which pupils are willing to learn.
At Key Stage 3 in Art and Design Schemes of work have been designed to provide a foundation of skills, knowledge and understanding. These are underpinned by the formal elements, different cultures, Identitly, the enviroment and other artists.
At Key Stage 4 pupils are expected to bulid upon their existing skills gained in Key Stage three. They are guided to visually and verbally explore and justify their work in relation to other artists resulting in an individually led final piece.
The Art Department is eager to continue and enhance past success to produce thoughtful and insightful young artists who can take creativity into any aspect of their future.
Key Stage 3 lunch time club, where pupils can complete homework and sketchbook tasks
