Welcome to Maths

The department consists of 8 full-time Mathematics specialists, housed in a suite of rooms on the ground floor of the original building and each classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard.  We are justly proud of our GCSE results which, this year, have exceeded our targets.

Pupils in our classes benefit from a wealth of Mathematical experiences and will be challenged to achieve, or even exceed, set targets.  They will be encouraged to participate in competitions and develop themselves as competent mathematicians.

In KS3, pupils have four hours per week learning time and will be assessed three times a year.  Their progress, as individuals, will be tracked by themselves as well as by us throughout the Key Stage.  Their overall performance will ultimately determine the set they go into for KS4.  Here they will start a two year modular course and have seven hours learning time a fortnight.

Every pupil will have the opportunity to potentially achieve a Grade C and those studying the higher tier can achieve an A*.
