Community Tree Planting

Community Tree Planting

Tree Planting @ Team SG!

A small group of year 8 pupils lent a hand with some tree planting to mark the start of an extension to our Community Garden. The 300 saplings were provided by ‘The Woodland Trust’ and once established will form environmental hedging for our new area.  Working with our long term partners from The Langdale Volunteers and some of our friends from De Puy Synthes we managed to plant the saplings in just under two hours. Although small now the hedging in the background was planted in the same way some 7 years ago and now they dwarf the 6 foot fence behind it.  The area will be further developed into a growing space over the next few months.

Neil Froggatt, from the Langdale Volunteers, is a long term supporter of the project and the school. He said ‘When we planted the first lot of trees we were thinking would they grow? Yes they did and 300 more today!’ His enthusiasm is fantastic for our school pupils and brings the community projects together. Thanks Neil!
