Welcome to St George’s School

Thank you for showing an interest in this post at St George’s School, A Church of England Business & Enterprise College.
In recent years, St George’s has been constantly changing to provide excellent facilities and life prospects for the young people within Marton and South Blackpool. Since becoming a VA Community Church School in 2002, we developed new buildings (2005), carefully managed an increased number on roll and attained Specialist School Status as a Business and Enterprise College, being awarded a benchmark for excellence by Warwick University in 2008.
For the past 6 years we have remained oversubscribed during a time of falling primary rolls and we are clearly the school of choice within the Community, parents valuing our traditional values and modern ambition. In 2012 we achieved our best results raising attainment (EM+3) by 9% when the majority of other schools locally levelled or had reduced scores. The headline figure of 52% (including English and Maths) placed the school well.
A successful Ofsted Inspection in January 2011 confirmed the School as “Good with Outstanding features” and with an “Outstanding” SIAS Inspection we are naturally ambitious, looking for greater achievements in the future.
The clear challenge is to move onward and upward amidst educational changes, whilst maintaining our reputation for
pastoral care and Christian ethos. This ambition is crucial as the School sits within the 6th most deprived area nationally and is totally committed to its community status. Students agree that the quality of care, guidance and support is a major strength of the school: “better than excellent” (Ofsted).
