Hi! I’m Helen. I have three children, 2 sons at Secondary School and a little girl at Primary School. I’m married to David who works very hard at our local hospice in Blackpool.
I was ordained in 1995 and have worked all over England and Northern Ireland mainly in parishes in pastoral roles. I have also been Chaplain to a hospice in Warrington and to an independent school in Fleetwood.
I started as Chaplain to St. George’s School in September 2012 and am really pleased to be part of such a great team. I enjoy being with our students and getting to hear how life and faith are for them.
Secondary School and the teenage years can be tough for all sorts of reasons. I admire our students’ enthusiasm and resilience, and feel privileged to be in a position to offer help and support.
My favourite bible stories are the parables Jesus told about the lost – the lost coin, the lost sheep and the lost son. I’m always amazed at the lengths the seekers will go to in order to find what – or who – has been lost. That’s just what God is like. If there’s one thing that inspires me in my ministry, it’s the knowledge that God loves us so very much.
I adore chocolate and have a stash in my office (please don’t tell anyone!). I also like cakes, biscuits and most things that are sweet. My favourite past times – when I get a spare moment – are clothes shopping, walking by the sea, playing chess, talking football with my boys, making cakes with my daughter, meeting my friends and gardening.
