In recent years, St. George’s has been constantly changing to provide excellent facilities and life prospects for the young people within Marton and South Blackpool. Since becoming a VA Community Church School in 2002, we have carefully managed an increased number on roll and developed new buildings with our latest Learning Hub and Library in 2014.
For the past 8 years we have remained oversubscribed during a time of falling primary rolls and we are clearly the school of choice within the Community, parents valuing our traditional values and modern ambition. We are pleased to announce that St George’s is only one of two Blackpool Schools to improve in GCSE headline figures of English and Maths plus three GCSE’s A*-C. We have achieved our best ever ranking against other schools and produced a 13% improvement in English, when National results fell. We have seen more subjects improve and exceed National Averages in any previous year.
The clear challenge is to move onward and upward amidst educational changes, whilst maintaining our reputation for pastoral care and Christian ethos. This ambition is crucial as the School sits within the 6th most deprived area nationally and is totally committed to its community status. Students agree that the quality of care, guidance and support is a major strength of the school: “better than excellent” (Ofsted).
