Spirituality Days

Each year group in St. George’s School has one ‘Spirituality Day’ per academic year which focuses on our key values. Spirituality Days are days when deliberate connections are made between academic subject areas and the Christian faith, with the intention of opening up new areas for student enquiry.

Lessons for Spirituality days are written especially for the day itself with the aim of opening up the ‘spiritual gate’ for pupils to go through and explore their inner lives.  Teachers encourage their pupils to ask questions of themselves and others about the meaning and purpose of their lives and their place in the world, to think about their beliefs and value systems, and to consider the choices facing them in life.

Spirituality Days follow the normal timetable for the day, but begin and end with worship and time for reflection. Student feedback on Spirituality Days is always positive with many asking on their evaluation forms for Spirituality Days to be longer.

We hold Spirituality Days because we are a faith school and believe that, because God is the Creator of all things, there are many links to be found between faith and life.
