National Careers Week Virtual Careers Fair

The virtual careers fair has videos and resources from a wealth of companies that you can explore and watch to explore areas that may interest you. You can visit each day across the week to gain an insight into a range of sectors.

National Careers week is all about highlighting the fantastic range of opportunities that are available for young people in the future. It is about exploring different careers, thinking about your skills and qualities and starting to prepare for the future. This page has some suggestions for different year groups and links to live events running during the week, at the bottom that pupils can sign up for.

Year 7 & 8: I Explore

BBC Bitesize Careers has information and videos about different Career Sectors. Have a look through the different sectors and watch some of the videos to find out more about the different types of jobs that people do in each sector. 

In year 8 you have made your first choice about the types of subjects you would like to study.  Where could your favourite subject take you?  BBC Bitesize Careers has a great guide to the types of jobs that link to your favourite subjects.  With lots of videos and real life examples to research.

Year 9: I Focus

Labour Market Information 

Understanding Labour Market Information (LMI) is becoming more and more important as the world changes, so that all pupils can be aware of where different job roles are needed around the country and what types of jobs may need more people in the future.

Year 10: I Plan

What skills do you have? What Interests and what are your personality traits? Do these things mean you may be suited to certain types of jobs? Have a go at creating your Wheel Of Strengths on the Barclay's Life Skill website. Pick the choices that feel like you and see what jobs pop up when you spin the wheel.

Employers value skills alongside qualifications and finding ways to build  skills for the future is important.
